Saigon Raiders formed in 1990 and was the first expat team to be formed in Vietnam. Originally Scandinavian, they now boast members from all over the world including Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Philippines, Spain, Vietnam, Morocco, USA and the UK.
Competing in the SIFL since its inauguration in 2000, the Saigon Raiders continue to aid the development of amateur football in Saigon, the privilege of the first ever chair of the newly formed SIFL committee falling to the club.
Through their Danish origins they attend the ‘Viking Cup’, a competition held around Asia once a year. In 2005 the VC was held in HCMC, 2006 in Shanghai, 2007 in Bali and in 2008 Hong Kong and Macau. Another Raiders regular is the Manila Nomads tournament held annually in the Philippines, featuring 32 teams from across Asia.
